As soon as the door shut, Blayde jerked out of my arms and began marching away. “Well that’s just awesome. Should we go back to my apartment and watch Netflix while we wait for them to finish? I snapped my hand out, grabbing her wrist and tugging her to me. “Blayde,” my voice was low. “Don’t be angry.”

“I’m not angry.” She looked up at me and I could see the rage in her eyes. And yet, beneath that, I could see her hurt and vulnerability.

I knew what this looked like but Nix and Maverick had absolutely no intention of fucking Styx. “Blayde—“

“Actually,” she interrupted, “I’m happy for them. They seem like they’ll make a great thruple. I mean, she does have great tits and all that, and they do seem to admire that in a woman. Your necklace will look spectacular in-between her boobies.” She flashed me a smile. “Should I let you join in, too? Anger stormed through me at her complete and utter ridiculousness and yet, I couldn’t stop the jealousy that raged through me. The image of both Maverick and Nix on top of her, kissing her, touching her, flashed like lightning through my heart, tearing through it. I stepped in closer, so close I could feel her breath fan over my face like soft seraph feathers.

“How did they taste?”

Her head jerked back. “What?”

“How. Did. They. Taste?” I repeated. I knew that what I was about to say was one of the stupidest things I’d ever done in my whole life, but I couldn’t stop myself. The pain and anger were too fresh, too embedded into my mind like trolls digging their way through my thoughts. “Maverick and Nix. Did you like kissing them both? She jerked her hand out of my reach. “Then why the hell did you say it?”

“Because I was jealous!” All of the built up anger and tension inside me just exploded and I stepped forward again, getting into her space, forcing her to deal with my presence. I was still being an asshole but I couldn’t stop myself. She did something to me that no other woman did—make me lose my control. 

And that was very, very dangerous.

“Maverick and Nix, I love them both, but they have it easy. Sex with them is fun, and every girl in the world wants to be the cream in an ice cream sandwich between the two. She stared up at me, considering my words. Eyes that were usually shrouded with mystery, blocked by the walls she put up were now open and sincere.

Asking me if I was worthy of her trust.
